Although the senior management and executive teams in control of Germany’s two main container shipping lines recently said talks over a merger to create the world’s fourth largest box carrier had come to an unsuccessful conclusion, a possible deal has yet to be entirely consigned to the dustbin of history. The city of Hamburg remains the largest single shareholder of Hapag, and according to this report is still pushing for a deal.
