Egypt’s plans to develop a vast area around the Suez Canal into a logistics, industrial and manufacturing hub could be stillborn if it fails to also introduce a series of reforms to its cumbersome bureaucracy, according to a lead consultant on the project, “You cannot have it with the current bureaucracy, or the current legislation, or with very poor infrastructure connections.”
