Airlines have cancelled more than 2,500 flights as the US east coast prepares for Winter Storm Jonas, which is set to hit today, centering on Washington DC. Blizzards are expected until Sunday, with more than 30 inches of snow. A state of emergency has been declared in at least four states, and some 50m people are expected to be affected by the “life-threatening” storm.
