Italy’s competition watchdog is investigating Amazon for alleged anti-competitive behaviour. The Local is reporting that the investigation was opened yesterday following claims the e-commerce giant had been giving preferential exposure to vendors that subscribed to its logistics services, which, the watchdog said, would have allowed Amazon to profit “unfairly from its dominant position”. According to the news report, the investigation will last a year, and follows the EC having hit another online giant, Google, with a €2.42bn fine for abuse of its dominant position.
