One of the air cargo industry’s most stalwart supporters, Brussels Airport Cargo chief Steven Polmans, has committed to the business further by joining the TIACA board of directors.

Mr Polmans, who has been active in boosting the pharma business for air cargo through the CEIV project, and is also chairman of Air Cargo Belgium Association, has actively promoted cooperation across the industry – and is set to do still more of it at TIACA.

“I strongly believe that more cooperation between all stakeholders is to the benefit of our industry,” he said.

“We are facing challenging but interesting times. Our industry is in need of change, and digitisation and innovation must become part of our behaviour and culture.

“For the past six years at Brussels Airport, I have been committed to bringing the air cargo community together and I am pleased and honoured to join the board of TIACA to continue this work with other industry leaders, the TIACA team and the whole cargo community on a global level.”

TIACA welcomed the development, noting Mr Polman’s enthusiasm for attempting to improve the industry.

“Steven’s experience and energy will be a welcome addition to our board,” said outgoing secretary general Doug Brittin.

Sanjiv Edward, TIACA chairman, said: “With his leadership skills and proven ability to promote cooperation among stakeholders, he is a valuable addition to the team.”

TIACA will host its Air Cargo Forum in Paris on October 26.
