By outsourcing so much of its production to Asia, in particular China, Apple is inevitably transferring valuable knowledge to manufacturers who may in the future become its fiercest rivals. Samsung is one supplier licensed to build screens for the new iPad, but the Korean company is also taking market share off Apple in the Chinese smartphone market. And it wouldn’t be the first time this has happened.
