It’s a question on everybody’s mind in the trade and financial circles: has the container carriers’ booming profit party from H1 25 finally come to an end?

Frankly, it’s hard to conclude anything else, if Alphaliner’s half-year snapshot of the nine largest listed container lines, and our takeaways from it, are anything to go by.

Many of them have seen margins return to pre-Covid levels over the past six months and, all bar one (more below), saw margins decrease sequentially from Q1.
