It seems highly ambitious, but a new Brazilian multimodal logistics company has announced plans to acquire some 40 B737-400 freighters within the next five years. Yes, 40. Modern Logistics also plans to set up 15 logistics centres in Brazil within the same timeframe, so it can offer customers warehousing, distribution and transport for just in-time delivery. Started by the founder of Azul Linhas Aereas – with the founder of JetBlue on the board – the company has aviation experience. And now it has cash too, after it secured ¢30m from a private equity investment.
