Mexico’s textile industry is on the rebound after a difficult few years. The country tried to protect domestic textile producers from low-cost Asia manufacturers through high import duties but was forced to lower them by the WTO. However, burgeoning trade with the US is boosting exports and the arrival of Swedish retailer H&M heralds a boom in domestic business, Mexico’s apparel manufacturers appear to be on the verge of the good times once more.
