“Good news for freight” is the response from the Freight Transport Association (FTA) to the news that the capacity at Heathrow’s cargo area is to be doubled. The plans for the redevelopment of Heathrow were announced today (Tuesday 13 May), and outlined an overhaul of cargo facilities at the London airport hub to expand the capacity to twice the current size.
Heathrow’s announcement echoed the recently published FTA commissioned document ‘Sky High Value,’ which detailed the importance of air freight to the UK economy and why continued investment in airport capacity is essential for British importers and exporters to enable them to access key global markets.
