Four injured in fire aboard containership in US port

Just five days after the blaze on containership ONE Henry Hudson, a fire has broken out aboard a containership docked at the port of Wilmington in North Carolina.

The cause of the blaze on the Chiquita Voyager is not yet known, but the incident is responsible for four injuries, according to the Delaware News Journal.

The alarming rise in the number of containership fires over the last few years – many linked to misdeclared cargo and lithium-ion batteries – should be a stark warning to stakeholders to ensure their cargo is insured, labelled and handled correctly.
