With Europe tipped to re-enter recession, it continues to be testing times for major clothing retailers. Add to this the unusually warm autumn weather, and some of the big retail names have been caught out once again, with low demand for warm winter clothes such as coats and boots. Those that pioneered fast fashion techniques however, such as Zara, with production sited close to market, have not had the same problem. As the shorter supply chain has mitigated against higher production costs and allowed them continue to offer clothes that shoppers are actually looking to buy.
