davies turner trailers

DFDS’s acquisition of Ekol appears to have prompted a shift in direction for the Turkish logistics firm’s former partner Davies Turner.

The fifth-biggest UK forwarder has announced a series of new partnerships for its overland services between Turkey and the UK.

Under the changes, Talay Logistics will take on responsibility for trailer services between the two countries, with Gebrüder Weiss managing point of origin warehousing, quality control and compliance operations in Istanbul for clients sourcing from Turkey.

Davies Turner director Alan Williams said: “A change in ownership for Ekol’s international transport operations required us to develop new partnerships that would enable us undertake a seamless transition of the award-winning logistics operations that we deliver on this route.”

Mr Williams added that partnering with Talay would allow door-to-door trailer services to be standardised, while its relationship with Gebrüder Weiss provided stability for its customers in Turkey.

Davies Turner typically moves 70-110 trailers a week between the UK and Turkey, alongside containerised freight by sea, as part of its daily groupage and full-load trailer services.
