As reported in The Loadstar last week, Air France is facing a crippling pilots’ strike this week. The carrier was urgently seeking requests for freighters to charter last week. Some airlines have been able to offer some aircraft but there has been doubt over whether the carrier would have secured the necessary permissions in time, although KLM and Martinair are expected to help take some of the freight. The carrier said the strikes would cost it between €10 and 15m per day. For details on affected flights, please go here. Tomorrow, Lufthansa’s pilots are to hold an eight-hour strike, the fourth in three weeks, over an early retirement scheme.
