With sanctions lifted, Iran is in acquisitive mode, with aircraft the first on its wish list. The transport minister yesterday said Iran was planning to buy 114 aircraft from Airbus to replace an ageing fleet. The country has some 15 airlines, according to fleet database website Planespotters, of which Iran Air is the largest, and has an average fleet age of more than 26 years.
