Another twist in the sorry tale of the US west coast port problems. As of last night, Pacific Maritime Association members will not be assigning vessels gangs to move cargo on or off ships at night. Instead, workers will be asked to focus on moving containers out of shipping yards and on to trucks in a bid to reduce the growing pile-up of boxes. The ILWU has said the move “defies logic”.
