An interesting article examining the benefits of the European short sea shipping network, and asking why the US has failed to introduce a similar system. Noting the gridlock on both the roads and in Capitol Hill, the author suggests that the US needs leadership from Washington to build a hub-and-spoke system which will cater for the Panama Canal expansion. “Hopefully, it’s not too late,” he says.
