There is strong merit in what Denmark’s AP Møller-Maersk is trying to achieve in terms of capital allocation, pursuing greater efficiency thanks to an asset lighter business model via its ambitious Stay Ahead plan. 

However, it is one thing to try; it is a very different thing to succeed. 

And the spotlight is on it with every step it takes, which makes it incredibly difficult to avoid fierce criticism from those who make a living in the business lines it aims to revolutionise.
