According to ITV, transport minister Chris Grayling told a “shocked” Cabinet of its plans, which focus on securing medical supplies should the French opt to reintroduce customs checks in the event of no deal. One minister reportedly said, “It’s the kind of stuff governments do in time of war… it’s as serious as that”. The proposed scheme, known as Government Owned or Operated Logistics (Gool), is under examination, with three options on the table: buying vessels, leasing vessels and converting existing military vessels.
