Seko Logistics has appointed Shawn Richard vice president for global air freight, a new position in the company.

Mr Richard’s appointment comes alongside the rising importance of e-commerce for Seko – it now accounts for 50% of volumes.

He brings more than 30 years’ experience to the role, having started out at New York JFK before joining the predecessor to DHL Global Forwarding in Miami.

During his time in the sunshine state, Mr Richard played a pivotal role in the integration of Danzas, Exel, and Airborne Express into the DHL family.

Following several years with DHL he returned to his home state to take up a role with Geodis before joining Worldnet Shipping USA as chief operating officer.

He joins Seko from Delta Cargo where he served as manager for regional sales in the US north-east, and will report to chief commercial officer Terry Unrein.

Mr Unrein welcomed Mr Richard to the company, and noted that Seko was on track to have a “record year” in terms of air freight volumes.

“Our focus on air freight has never been greater and the fact that Seko has a fast-growing client base of retailers and etailers means we’re looking to build stronger relationships with forward-thinking airline partners.”
