Rescuers race to save 14,000 sheep on capsized cargo ship

Some 14,000 sheep could drown following the capsize of the ship Queen Hind on leaving the port of Midia, Romania yesterday. Thousands of sheep remain trapped in the hull, with only a handful rescued, reports the BBC.

Splash24/7 has been leading a campaign to end the transport of livestock, which are generally kept in poor conditions on board. This Splash report questions what the EU will do in the light of this latest tragedy.
