Western Global Airlines is set to shake up the Latin American market with a four times a week service between Miami and Colombia. The news follows Centurion’s apparent absence from the market, leaving the way pretty clear for Atlas, which has been busy in that space. South America’s largest outbound flow is flowers from Colombia – but this year that market has remained flat, according to Seabury (the floral growth went instead to East Africa, which exported 7.7% more roses in the first seven months of this year). Meanwhile, one of the key exports from South America to the US – grain – suffered a bad harvest, which lost air freight significant amounts of business in the region this year.
