Has globalization reached its financial tipping point? With trade flows beginning to shorten between the production and consumption of goods, this article looks at BDP International’s survey of manufacturers. Some 87% of companies with revenues of between $100m and $10bn are considering shortening their supply chains and creating intra-regionalized trade flows. Is this due to rising labour costs in Asia? Or consumer demand for more transparent supply chains?
