Geodis is set to propel itself into the US market with a purchase of Ozburn-Hessey Logistics (OHL), the Tennessee company which was put up for sale by its private equity owners. Geodis, based in France, has missed a strong US network. It had in the past worked closely with Jacobsen, but The Loadstar understands that a proposal to acquire it was rejected by the Geodis board after the company completed its $1bn purchase of IBM’s logistics business. Jacobsen was subsequently bought by Norbert Dentressangle. But, according to various media reports, Geodis is now in talks to acquire OHL for some $800m.
