The Blockchain in Transport Alliance (Bita) Standards Council has appointed FedEx’s blockchain strategist, Dale Chrystie, as its first chair.
He will be responsible for helping the organisation and its members develop a blockchain standards framework, as well as helping educate the market.
Mr Chrystie has been a member of Bita since its founding in 2017.
Board member Ken Craig said: “Dale brings the broadest perspective from a transport provider I can imagine, ranging from parcel, less-than-truckload and expedited, to global transport management. His personal and professional insights will be beneficial; we are fortunate to have a leader with his perspective and industry breadth. Plus, he is just a great guy to work with.”
Mr Chrystie brings with him more than 30 years’ experience in the transport and supply chain sector, with almost half of those having been spent at FedEx.
He said: “We can all appreciate the unique moment in time we are in to capitalise on this emerging technology, blockchain. To ensure we stay focused during the next two years we will aim to publish standards in the transport space and align those standards into the full supply chain and beyond.”
