The Loadstar won a series of honours at the 2025 Seahorse Journalist Awards, held in London yesterday, after a record-breaking year for entries to the prestigious competition.
With 360 submissions from 60 journalists worldwide, the awards again highlighted excellence across the global transport and logistics media landscape.
In a standout night for The Loadstar, Charlotte Goldstone, above, won Technology Journalist of the Year, recognising her “sharp, forward-looking reporting” on digitalisation, innovation, and the technological forces reshaping freight and logistics.
She was also named runner-up for Multimedia Journalist of the Year and runner-up for ESG Journalist of the Year, underscoring her wide-ranging impact and editorial strength.
Meanwhile, Alex Whiteman was runner-up for the Overland Journalist of the Year award, reflecting his consistently authoritative coverage of road, rail and intermodal freight.
The event also showcased the continued rise of women in logistics journalism. SFA and WISTA UK board member Sue Terpilowski praised the strong representation of female journalists, noting that the sector was “leading by example” in fostering diversity and giving talent the space to thrive.
This year’s ceremony also celebrated global voices, with entries spanning air cargo, maritime, freight, supply chain, ESG, and digital transformation — a signal of the growing international relevance of the Seahorse Awards and the vital role of independent journalism amid geopolitical and industry pressures.
The 2025 Awards were sponsored by AAL Shipping, American Bureau of Shipping, DNV, Global Marine Travel, PSA, TT Club, and U-Freight, with additional support from British International Freight Association (BIFA), the Rail Freight Group, International Association of Ports and Harbours (IAPH), Lead Coverage, Park Lane Publishing Ltd, and Woodland Group. As in previous years, the awards supported Transaid through a charity raffle.
