Following on from our port productivity long read released this month, the Journal of Commerce has published its findings for ports and terminals in the full-year 2014. This series of charts effectively shows the world’s most productive ports in terms of berth performance – and in that respect it comes with an important caveat: what is measured is the total amount of time a ship spends in port divided by the number of crane moves; which effectively means for an importer how quickly a container will come off a vessel. It does not measure how long your container may then spend in a port’s yard, waiting for some miserable queue at the port gates to clear…
