Perhaps buoyed by the current market conditions, so far, two airlines have ordered freighters at the Dubai Air Show. Today’s news comes from Ethiopian Airlines, which already has six 777 freighters and two 757Fs and has put in an order for two more 777Fs, following its recent order for two at the Paris Air Show. The carrier said it was also looking at a 777 passenger aircraft order and said it would also consider any replacement Boeing comes up with for the 757.
Interestingly, Azerbaijan Airlines, along with an order for five 787-8s, said it would purchase two freighters, either 747-8Fs or 777s. This would mark the carrier’s first foray into freighter operations – and put it into Silk Way’s territory.
