UK road freight and logistics provider Europa Worldwide Group has promoted Rob Jones (pictured above) to the role of finance director.
Mr Jones joined the company in January 2020 as a non-executive director to provide support and guidance on strategy and support its ambitious growth plans, having worked closely with owner Andrew Baxter when he acquired the business.
He will focus on strengthening the finance team, while playing an integral role in reviewing finances across all Europa divisions – Road, Air & Sea, Warehouse, Showfreight, Contact Centre and Continental Cargo Carriers.
Prior to joining Europa, he formed intelligence-led security solutions firm VSG with three colleagues and grew the business into the fourth-largest security company in the UK, with 6,500 employees.
It is this expertise in business that Mr Baxter is keen to utilise. He said: “Rob knows the business, from challenges to solutions and strategies, which he has helped to create over the past year.
“Previously his role was to focus on maximising opportunities flowing from Brexit, alongside reviewing strategy in the context of Covid-19 and how we need to adapt.
“I feel confident we have now resolved these short-term complexities and can focus on the future, which is why I have chosen to position Rob as our finance director.”
