The EU has cleared Pakistan’s first seafood export consignment, allowing the country’s fish and shrimp trade back into its 27-nation market after a ban of over six years. The Pakistan Business Recorder reports that a shipment of 11,000 kg of cuttlefish was cleared by EU authorities in late July, with further consignments of value-added shrimp and fish products now planned. Just two Pakistani fisheries have reportedly been so far approved to export seafood to the EU, following the lifting of a 2007 ban in March this year.
