The head of security at the air cargo terminal in Chennai has been arrested, along with some staff, for smuggling. The case has made the Indian airport “sit up and take notice”, according to this article. The focus at the terminal had been on ensuring that exports were secure, but the airport is now changing procedures for imports and ensuring that no single agency would have full access. Recommendations for improving the cargo terminal had been issued in December – and now are more likely to be heeded.
