Well, it had to happen sooner or later: this report from Bloomberg today suggests that e-commerce giant Amazon is trialling a delivery service to consumers that would also be offered to third-party retailers. Allegedly named Seller Flex, the service has been tested on the US west coast and is expected to be rolled out to other areas next year. And, most interestingly, according to the YouTube video below (courtesy of last mile expert Marek Rozycki), it has developed an Uber-esque concept of building a network of app-connected independent contractors – although what effect the recent rulings on employment status of drivers in some jurisdictions will have remains to be seen.
