Alibaba has decided to invest more in its logistics and warehousing operation, extending its stake in the Cainiao Smart Logistics Network from 48% to 51%, at a cost of Rmb5.3bn ($800m). But it also announced investment of Rmb100bn ($15.12bn) over five years in global logistics, and is expanding throughout South-east Asia following a $2bn investment in Lazada Group.
Meanwhile, Alibaba-backed Best Inc, which just raised $450m in an IPO, is developing its last-mile logistics in China.
