Associated British Ports (ABP) chief executive James Cooper last week informed the board that he intends to resign.
Mr Cooper has spent 10 years on the board of the UK’s largest port operator and served as chief executive since April 2013, having been a non-executive director of ABP Holdings from May 2007 to January 2013.
He has also been chairman of UK Major Ports Group since November 2015.
“After 10 years in the business I felt the time was right to begin discussions about my succession,” he said. “I look forward to continuing to work with the great team at ABP and welcoming my successor when appointed next year.”
ABP chairman Philip Nolan said: “I would like to pay tribute to James’s leadership and vision for ABP. He has overseen a transformation in the business, ensuring ABP is well placed to meet the challenges and capitalise on the opportunities presented in the future.”
