Some pretty shocking figures have emerged from the American Transportation Research Institute. Congestion in the US contributed to 728m hours of lost productivity in 2014 – or 264,500 commercial truck drivers doing nothing for an entire working year.

Florida and Texas were among the worst states, with congestion costing them more than $4bn each. It’s pretty thorough analysis: ATRI worked out that the cost of congestion, on a per-truck basis, saw costs increase $26,625 for trucks that travel 150,000 miles each year. ...
