Full-year results were out this morning for UK haulage and contract logistics company Wincanton, which saw pre-tax profits grow at a better pace than revenues as it benefited from new business from Howden Joinery and Lavendon group, and contract extensions with Heinz, Britvic and Waitrose, among others. It did not however, escape the malaise at some of the country’s largest supermarkets, with Tesco and M&S countering weak sales by “closing depots and rejigging networks”.
