Mexico entered a new era this week after electing its first female president in the shape of Claudia Sheinbaum, a loyalist to the departing incumbent Andrés Manuel López Obrador, more commonly known by his initials AMLO.
Gender is probably where the differences will end, however. It is with AMLO’s blessing that Sheinbaum now occupies the highest office in the country after pledging to continue his policies, which in recent years have focused on growing the country’s economy.
