Splash 24/7 is reporting that China’s ministry of transport has raised the security alert level for Chinese ships sailing through the Malacca Strait, amid fears that an “Indonesian armed group” was planning to attack them. The Level 3 status exceeds the Level 2 alert issued for ships moving through the Middle East following a rash of attacks on tankers. The ministry is also, reportedly, issuing further information to operators.
