The US government has finally decided to break a deadlock on the pressing issue of port deepening. US ports, if the ruling is finally approved, will be able to pay to deepen their harbours, and then ask the government to reimburse them – which would finally allow ports to prepare fully for the widening of the Panama Canal. The race is on.
