Another tragic incident at sea occurred on Saturday evening, when Singapore-registered box ship Wan Hai A17 collided with China’s bulk carrier Hai Li 5 off Guangzhou. Hai Li 5 sank, and two of its 15 crew are missing.
No injuries to crew are reported on the containership, which is still afloat.
The 13,100 teu box ship was leaving Nansha when the collision happened; Wan Hai A17 is now being held in Guangzhou.
As yet, there are no details on the cause of the collision, weather conditions reported as normal at the time.
