Fruit exports from Argentina rose 11.2% in the first quarter of 2013 on the back of strong demand growth from Russia. Just over 24% of Argentina’s total first quarter fruit exports were destined for Russia, reports FreshPlaza, up 38.2% in volume and 43.6% in value compared with the same period in 2012. Brazil – which is Argentina’s leading export destination for fresh vegetables – was the second largest market for fruit; however volumes and value of fruit sent to the country’s Latin neighbour declined by 11.5% and 8.2% respectively against Q1 2012.
