The huge fire that raged through the port of Savannah’s Ocean Terminal over the weekend is out, and the Georgia Ports Authority (GPA) said operations would be back to normal today. The blaze, which has yet to be explained, began in Warehouse No 3, west of the Talmadge Bridge, and burned out just under half of the 226,000sq ft warehouse, which contained rubber. Rather ironically, last month GPA won an award from the Environmental Protection Agency for cutting emissions in a bid for cleaner air.
