CH Robinson has promoted Robert Biesterfeld to chief operating officer after 19 years with the company.
Mr Biesterfeld’s appointment will also see him retain his role as president of North American Surface Transportation (NAST), which he took on at the end of 2015.
He will continue to report to chief executive John Wiehoff who congratulated him on the promotion and welcomed his “effective leadership” and “deep” industry knowledge.
“We are in a great position for continued success as we execute on our long-term growth strategy,” said Mr Wiehoff. “Bob has been instrumental in driving strategy and transformation and brings a strong focus on analytics, customer centricity and technology to this role.”
In his new role, Mr Biesterfeld will have direct responsibility for five business divisions, including NAST, Global Forwarding, Robinson Fresh, Europe Surface Transportation and Managed Services.
He will also be responsible for company’s commercial operations and information technology.
