As if things weren’t bad enough in Calais. Now, with MyFerryLink staff on strike after Eurotunnel’s decision to sell its two ferries to DFDS after a competition authority ruling, the port is completely congested, reports the BBC. P+O and DFDS ferry services are affected, while the Eurotunnel entrance was blocked by striking workers and burning tyres. Lorries are being permitted to queue on the M20, and in France, would-be migrants keen to cross the Channel are targeting the slow-moving traffic. The FTA has reported fighting among them, and warned of increasing risks. It also noted that the delays were costing hauliers about £50 an hour per lorry.
