In an unprecedented move, 23 automotive industry associations have penned a joint letter to officials urging them to avoid a no-deal Brexit. It is no longer simply about fears of diminishing post-Brexit car sales in the UK, but about the wider impact on the industry’s established supply chains: “The UK’s departure from the EU without a deal would trigger a seismic shift in trading conditions, with billions of euros of tariffs threatening to impact consumer choice and affordability on both sides of the Channel,” the joint statement said.
