Mike Duggan, formerly of HAE Group and Emirates, has continued his Middle East-based career by joining Saudia Cargo.

He  replaces Steve Manser – now at Qatar Airways – as director of air cargo charter sales at the end of January. Mr Manser will be a hard act to follow, say market sources, but Mr Duggan has wide-ranging experience in the air cargo industry.

Most recently he was on secondment from HAE Group, formerly Heavyweight Air Express, where he was regional director projects, as commercial director for Raya Airways. He helped the Malaysian carrier, formerly called Transmile, to re-brand and create a new strategy.

But, he told The Loadstar, he is looking forward to a new challenge.

“I’m looking forward to building upon Saudia Cargo’s already successful freighter and charter business. Saudia is one of the few serious players in the charter market, with dedicated capacity set aside, rather than just trying to fill gaps in a schedule or pick up extra hours when times are tough. Hopefully I will bring a new dimension to an already strong, well-positioned and ever evolving cargo carrier – let’s see!”

Mr Duggan has wide experience of the freighter business. He had worked previously as director sales EMEA region at Southern Air as well as being manager cargo planning and freighter development for Emirates.
