There’s an interesting article in Seeking Alpha – which can sometimes be a little light in content – on the ATSG purchase of Omni Air. The analyst author suggests that the acquisition of a passenger airline takes any likely purchase by Amazon of ATSG off the table. But then he suggests that this in turn could push Amazon more towards Atlas instead – the Atlas that in fact has a similar number of passenger aircraft as Omni Air and a very similar business. This aside, the analyst points to new diverse income streams for ATSG, better margins at Omni Air, and less volatility in passenger operation as benefits to ATSG business.
