And the world’s latest biggest ship is: OOCL Hong Kong. The ultra-large container vessels are coming thick and fast now. Just two months ago MOL Triumph held the crown, swiftly followed by Madrid Maersk, but now they have both been demoted by OOCL’s 21,413 teu capacity behemoth. It’s OOCL’s first vessel in the 21,000 category – in fact, it’s its only one above 21,000 teu – but is just one in an order for six. OOCL Hong Kong will operate on the Asia-Europe tradelane.
