In the lead-up to XPO Logistics’ latest takeover, this time of US trucking company Con-way, the word on the street is that XPO has already had offers for Con-way’s trucking operations. XPO has traditionally targeted asset-light companies, but its recent acquisitions – Norbert Dentressangle and Con-way – have included lots of trucks and properties. Apparently, and it has reportedly been confirmed by XPO chief executive Bradley Jacobs, XPO subsequently received several unsolicited offers for that part of Con-way’s business, estimated to have annual revenues of $632m. “We have made no decision yet on whether or not to keep Con-way Truckload. It’s true we have received several unsolicited inbound calls from interested buyers but we haven’t decided,” he told reporters.
