Following its clearance by competition regulators to complete its acquisition of DB Schenker, Danish freight forwarder DSV has announced a series of management changes at the newly merged entity.

DSV said that it was now scheduled to formally complete the deal on 30 April.

It also announced that DB Schenker Europe region chief executive Helmut Schweighofer will become the new CEO of the combined the Road division.

He will replace DSV executive Søren Schmidt, “who has decided to continue his career outside DSV after three decades of dedicated service”.

Meanwhile, Vishal Sharma (above), currently CEO of DB Schenker’s Asia Pacific region, will become the new group chief commercial officer, replacing Morten Landry, who is set to continue working at DSV as CCO of its Air & Sea Forwarding division in the first quarter of next year.

“Until then, Mr Landry will remain part of DSV’s group commercial executive team to ensure a smooth transition,” the company said.

Finally, Saskia Blochberger, head of HR in DB Schenker’s Europe region is set to become the new chief people officer at DSV, replacing Helle Bach, who has also decided to “pursue new opportunities outside DSV”.

DSV said further appointments were being made as puts together its future management teams.

“We want to create clarity and move ahead with the integration as soon as the acquisition is closed,” DSV chief executive Jens Lund said. “Executives from both DSV and Schenker have been assessed based on competencies and achievements, as well as professional and personal plans for the future.

As The Loadstar previously reported, DSV intends to nominate Jochen Thewes, CEO of Schenker, for election to its board at an extraordinary general meeting following the completion of the acquisition.
